A practical guide

Keep page context with the extracted wording.

  1. Choose a PDF with an existing text layer.
  2. Export to Markdown and inspect every page section.
  3. Reuse only the wording you have checked against the original PDF.

Try this example

Convert a searchable three-page client brief to Markdown. Verify that the requested date and two action items are under the same source-page heading as in the PDF.

Before

  • PDF: Hello

After

  • Page heading + literal text block
Input and expected output for this task. Illustrative example.

Example .md file

## Page 1

    Hello from the PDF.

Selectable source text: Hello from the PDF.

Before you start: This exports existing text as literal code blocks; it does not convert the PDF into an editable layout.

What you get

Export embedded text as literal Markdown code blocks grouped by page. No reconstruction of headings, tables, images or original layout. Empty-text pages are labelled; no OCR. Limits: 10 MiB input, 200 pages, 4 MiB output.

Limits and important details

Maximum 10 MiB input, 200 pages and 4 MiB text output. Scanned documents without a text layer report an error instead of a fake successful extraction. Reading order, columns and fonts may not match visual layout. This is not OCR or PDF-to-Word.

Example

Export selectable report text to .md. Page headings are generated; the PDF text stays literal inside code blocks rather than becoming executable HTML or inferred tables. Review reading order before reuse.
